Beef & Corn Soup                                    From Syd's Kitchen
2 lbs chuck or similar cut in 1/2" - 3/4" pieces
3 large onions cut up
5 large potatoes cut in 3/4" pieces
2 lbs small carrots
1 small head of cabbage cut up

2 cans small white corn
crushed garlic
1 tsp. bacon grease (optional, adds much flavor to beef)
beef and chicken bouillon cubes


1 Simmer beef chunks in frying pan with bacon grease (Optional: Add one tsp bacon grease
for better flavor) about an hour or so; start on high heat, add water to cover, simmer.
2 In last hour of simmering, in a large heavy stew pot, add onions, potatoes, carrots, cabbage;
add one tbsp. salt and heaping tbsp. crushed garlic. Maybe more garlic juice, to taste.
3 Add several beef and chicken bouillon cubes
4 Cook vegetables in stew pot, add beef and beef liquid into stew pot, add corn and simmer
for another half hour.
5 Grind peppercorns to taste, mix in soup; eat or refrigerate or freeze, delicious!
